Lepas gian..

Once you start learning to bake and decorate cakes, it can actually be addictive. I haven't done it in quite some time but lately, I suddenly feel like I need my fix of baking. Lepas gian dah lama tak buat cake. Dan hasilnya..

Gold crown with jewels. Finally I get to use my jewel moulds.

Love making these ruffle details. They were pretty easy to make, yet it makes the cake look pretty!

Cupcakes too!

A closer look..

They were for a friend's daughter's birthday party. The party was on a Sunday so I had time to make everything aside from my day job. It felt good because finally I get to do this again! I had to gather all my dusty tools and buy a few new things like the icing tips/nozzles. Hopefully I do it again soon. I'll post another baking project I did after this. This one you can't miss because I'm gonna share a recipe with you and it's absolutely scrumptious even for people who don't usually eat sweets or cakes.. Trust me, I am not lying. Come back okay!

Later alligator.

M.I.A.

Such a long long long LOOOONGGG long time since I last posted on this blog. Sorry bout that. And some of you may have even emailed me for orders. Sorry if it went unanswered. Truth is, I have stopped taking cake orders for quite some time now. And I need to tell you guys that. Sorry guys. But I kinda miss blogging. I really do. Hence the reason for this post today.

The reason for me being so quiet is because I'm a corporate lady now, yes sirree! For those of you who don't now me personally, I have a degree in Marketing and that is what I'm doing now. I love my job and I'm happy and I feel blessed. But I still love cake deco and baking, and once in a while I still do it for family and friends. However lately I haven't done much of it I must admit. But I think I'll try doing more of it and put up some posts on baking or cake deco tutorials or things like that.

But for today, I would just like to take the opportunity to wish all you muslim readers Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin. Eid Mubarak! I hope you have a wonderful eid with your loved ones.. :)

P.S. : Do find me on instagram. or twitter. coz I'm an IG junkie. heh. The name's azyanagil.

Is it really buttercream?

Hello hello hello! Hows it goin everybody. I've been missing for awhile. Been helping out Hana Tajima with her RE-WORK workshop. Have you heard of it? But I've still been making cakes. Mostly buttercream cakes. Its actually easier to decorate with buttercream. At least for me. In case you don't know what I'm talking about, Buttercream is the soft white-coloured cream people use to cover and decorate a cake. Besides buttercream, there's fondant or royal icing cakes which are hard and last longer which makes it more suitable for wedding or hantaran cakes especially in Malaysia's hot weather.

However, buttercream cakes are usually more affordable. I don't usually recommend bride to be's to have a buttercream cake as their wedding or hantaran cakes because it's more difficult to handle and is a hassle to bring for long distance travel. But when people still request for them, I try my best nonetheless to make a beautiful cake for your special day.

The following cake is one of my favorites because people would wonder if that's really made from buttercream. My grandma actually touched it to make sure whether it's hard or soft! I was in awe when she did that, but it was kinda funny. heh.

Buttercream flowers piped by hand

love the colors

You can even make 2D drawing or prints by just piping buttercream..

Funky Zebra Prints

More flowers. This is for an engagement. I've made this design before but in another colour.

If that looks complicated for you to do yourself, a messy look is always in. Make your own topper using paper, and you're good to go!

heart shaped sprinkles dress up this bachelorette party cake!

How do you like them? I'm planning to organize a Buttercream Technique Class where you can learn all about the basics of buttercream and different kinds of piping techniques. So if you are interested, just drop me an email and I'll keep you posted on the details ;)

Toodles!

I want to go to London!

I would love to go to London. But this isn't really about me. This is about another girl who wants to go to London and requested for a London theme birthday cake. So that's I gave her. London on a cake :)

First, I sketch all things "London"..

Then I sketch the cake choices. And guess which one they chose??

Yup. The second one.

And TADA!!

I prepared the London bridge, Big Ben and London Eye ahead of time..

And this is the end result :)
I'm quite proud of this cake because of the details that I did. It's one of the most detailed cake that I've done so far. =D

The next cake is the most chocolaty cake ever and I call it the SUPERDUPER CHOCOLATE CAKE! It's a very chocolate cake covered in the most delicious chocolate ganache, covered AGAIN with tons of M&M's.

I am not kidding you when I say I am drooling right now.

This cake is for a bachelorette party so I made gumpaste bra and panties and put it on top.
Hubba Hubba!! Lacey white lingerie..arrr. hihi

Kak yan, did you study bakery?

I took a short course at ICCA in Kota Damansara. But honestly, I don't think it was enough. I hope in the near future I can take a proper diploma course in patisserie and who knows, I can become a certified pastry chef. =)
