Is it really buttercream?

Hello hello hello! Hows it goin everybody. I've been missing for awhile. Been helping out Hana Tajima with her RE-WORK workshop. Have you heard of it? But I've still been making cakes. Mostly buttercream cakes. Its actually easier to decorate with buttercream. At least for me. In case you don't know what I'm talking about, Buttercream is the soft white-coloured cream people use to cover and decorate a cake. Besides buttercream, there's fondant or royal icing cakes which are hard and last longer which makes it more suitable for wedding or hantaran cakes especially in Malaysia's hot weather.

However, buttercream cakes are usually more affordable. I don't usually recommend bride to be's to have a buttercream cake as their wedding or hantaran cakes because it's more difficult to handle and is a hassle to bring for long distance travel. But when people still request for them, I try my best nonetheless to make a beautiful cake for your special day.

The following cake is one of my favorites because people would wonder if that's really made from buttercream. My grandma actually touched it to make sure whether it's hard or soft! I was in awe when she did that, but it was kinda funny. heh.

love the colors

You can even make 2D drawing or prints by just piping buttercream..

More flowers. This is for an engagement. I've made this design before but in another colour.

If that looks complicated for you to do yourself, a messy look is always in. Make your own topper using paper, and you're good to go!

heart shaped sprinkles dress up this bachelorette party cake!

How do you like them? I'm planning to organize a Buttercream Technique Class where you can learn all about the basics of buttercream and different kinds of piping techniques. So if you are interested, just drop me an email and I'll keep you posted on the details ;)

Toodles!
