Snowy Hazelnut Ball and other kuih raya..

Hey everybody! How is your raya so far? We surely had a lot of fun. I haven't updated my blog for quite a while. So for this entry, Im gonna show the kuih raya we made. Even better, Im gonna show you a tutorial of how to make Snowy Hazelnut Ball! I think its not too late if you wanna try and make this. This would be my first tutorial. Hope you guys like it!

So firstly, let me just give you the recipe:

200 gm Butter
50 gm Shortening
160 gm Sugar
1 Egg yolk
1 tsp vanilla
150 gm Ground hazelnut (you can also use ground almonds)
260 gm Flour
100 gm Corn flour

And for the decoration/presentation:

Paper cups
Sprinkles
250 gm White Chocolate
30 gm Cocoa butter/shortening

Here's how you make it:
  1. Preheat oven at 170c
  2. Mix butter, shortening and sugar until soft.
  3. Add in egg yolk and vanilla and continue mixing
  4. Add in ground hazelnut, flour and corn flour and mix until it becomes a nice even dough.
  5. You can just roll them into balls or like what we did, add toasted hazelnut in the middle and roll them.
  6. Place them on a buttered baking tray and bake in heated oven for 20 minutes.

7. Next, after cooling them, place in paper cups (it's suppose to look more golden brown than this).

8. Melt the white chocolate and cocoa butter together in a double boiler and dip/spoon them onto the balls.

9. Decorate with heart candy and colourful sprinkles

10. Ready to eat!

mmmm nyum nyum..

We also made Kuih sarang semut, Pineapple tarts & Semperit.
Happy Raya & happy baking!
